Product Description
Details

Produced by bodega De Muller, De Muller Aureo Dulce Añejo is an exquisite solera-aged rancio sweet wine - that is, a sweet wine made in the oxidative style -  also known as Aureo 1954 Dulce (1954 is the year in which the solera was created).

A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% White Grenache, this Spanish sweet wine comes from DO Tarragona, an area whose sweet wines were already appreciated in Roman times.

The late-harvested grapes of this sweet wine from Tarragona were fermented under controlled temperature. After that, the wine was aged in old soleras for a substantial period of time. This oxidative ageing gave a unique complexity and finesse to the wine.

The sweet wine De Muller Aureo Dulce Añejo was bottled after selecting the best soleras.

This remarkable rancio style sweet wine will pair nicely with aged cheeses, foie gras and bitter chocolate desserts. It is also an excellent after-dinner sip.

Nose

This sweet wine made from Grenache and White Grenache is impressively rich and refined, carrying aromas of treacle, candied fruit, chocolate, sultanas and spices, with hints of royal jelly, dry fruit and smoke.

Palate

This sweet wine of the De Muller winery is balanced, powerful and luscious, with a juicy acidity and remembrances of cane sugar, iodine, fine tobacco and ground coffee, with a long, gently bitter finish and an elegant oxidative touch.

like a good Cream Sherry
Value
As a lover of cream Sherry wines, I've enjoyed this sweet rancio immensely. Not oversweet, with lots of acidity and superb balance.
