Produced by the En Números Vermells winery, the personal project of winemaker Silvia Puig, the wine En Números Vermells PX is a remarkably original and very hard to find Spanish white wine from DOQ Priorat.
This exciting white wine from Priorat is produced solely from Pedro Ximénez grapes sourced from a single vineyard owned by local wine grower Carlos Cubells, a good friend of Ms. Puig's. Located near Poboleda, at roughly 600 metres of altitude, the steep slope vineyard is composed of slate soils and planted with vines over 60 years old.
It is worth pointing out that, allthough one would hardly think of Pedro Ximénez as a typical Priorat grape, the variety has been grown in the region for quite some time.
Hnad-picked and selected, the grapes went through a very slow fermentation in French oak barrels, clay vessels and wooden vats under controlled temperature. Once the process was finished, the white wine En Números Vermells PX 2023 was aged on lees for 4 months in the fermentation diposits.
Extremely limited production.
Like most quality white wines, this varietal white wine aged on lees is best served at a temperature served at a temperature slightly higher than usual (10º-12ºC).
