Red Wine Enrique Mendoza Monastrell-Merlot 2023
Availability: In stock
A company whose reputation has not ceased to improve over the last years, Bodegas Enrique Mendoza was one of the first wineries to produce quality wines in the southeastern Spanish region of Alicante.
Produced from an equal blend of Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre) and Merlot, the wine Enrique Mendoza Monastrell Merlot has long been one of our customer's favourites. The grapes come from estate vineyards located in the paraje Cabezo de la Virgen.
Carefully harvested and selected, the grapes of this red wine from Alicante were fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Then the wine was transferred into French and American oak barrels (from Allier and Oregon respectively) where this vegan red wine completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 12 months.
Neither filtered nor clarified prior to its bottling, the red wine Enrique Mendoza Monastrell-Merlot 2023 may contain some sediment.
Thus, we suggest that you decant this Crianza red wine some time before you drink it.
| Appearance | The red wine Enrique Mendoza Monastrell-Merlot is deep ruby with a violet rim. |
|---|---|
| Nose | Dim notes of Moroccan spices, cinnamon and vanilla, alongside creamy aromas of red berries, typical of a blend of Merlot and Monastrell. This red wine from Alicante also suggests some expressive notes of violets, dry earth, Mediterranean garrigue and smoke. |
| Palate | Very pleasant, revealing savoury red fruit, some creamy lactic notes, a spicy tip and notions of Mediterranean undergrowth combined with some mineral remembrances. This red wine from Enrique Mendoza winery has everything in the right place. Tense acidity, rewarding freshness and long, fruity finish. |
| Our personal opinion | Lively and expressive, the wine Enrique Mendoza Monastrell-Merlot 2023 pairs very well with a vegan paella - a real delicacy you should definitely taste. |
