The wine Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium is the most ambitious and cosmopolitan red of bodega Marqués de Cáceres. The name 'Gaudium' - the latín word for 'delight' - says it all.
The superb 2021 vintage of this Spanish red wine was sourced from old Tempranillo vineyards with clay-limestone soils on top of a limestone bedrock situated in la Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, at 400 to 740 metres of altitude. All of the vines are 70+ years of age; some are over a century old and pre-phylloxera.
Harvested in late September and early October, the grapes were refrigerated before going through the sorting table, where they underwent an extremely meticulous selection. This red wine from La Rioja was fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and concrete tanks and wooden vats, and then it completed the malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.
After that, the red wine Marqués de Cáceres Gaudium 2021 from DOCa Rioja was aged for 18 months in fine and ultra-fine grained new French oak barrels. This vegan red wine was cellared for no less than two years before hitting the market.
We suggest decanting this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.
Nice ageing potential.
