Red Wine Martín Faixó Cadac 2012
Reserva red wine from l’Empordà. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and for 10 years minimum in the bottle.
Availability: In stock
The wine Martín Faixó Cadac is the top-shelf bottle of bodega Martín Faixó, the only winery located in Cadaqués, Costa Brava’s most beautiful village and former hideaway of legendary artists like Salvador Dalí and Marcel Duchamp.
A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Grenache, this Spanish red wine is sourced from sun- drenched vineyards with slate soils located in the heart of Cap de Creus, the Iberian Peninsula’s easternmost tip. The mineral character of the soils, the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea and the effect of the harsh, relentless northern Tramuntana wind give the grapes an amazing concentration of flavour and a distinctive local character.
After a manual harvest, each variety was vinified separately in stainless steel tanks. After that, the red wine Martín Faixó Cadac 2012 – truly one of the under-the-radar jewels of DO Empordà – was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Once blended and bottled, this red wine from Empordà was cellared for a minimum of 10 years (!) before hitting the shelves. This absolutely unusual fact shows the uncompromising quality standards of the winery, willing to wait no less than a decade for the consumers to enjoy the wine at its absolute peak.
We suggest gently aerating this Reserva red wine before drinking.

Appearance | The red wine Martín Faixó Cadac is garnet coloured with some reddish reflections. |
---|---|
Nose | This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache is complex and detailed, showing the relaxed self- assurance that only a decade in the bottle can develop. Thyme and rosemary, with a dash of petrichor and sea breeze, aromas of red berries and kirsch liqueur, a dash of black pepper and hints of leather and cocoa. |
Palate | Distinguished and richly layered, with admirable integration of the oak, fully resolved tannins and a saline savouriness and dark minerality to the red cherry and forest berry fruit. This wine of Martín Faixó winery has a very long finish, with kaleidoscopic notes of spices, toast and dark chocolate. |
