Bodega Ossian Vides y Vinos, the project of Pago de Carraovejas winery in the DO Rueda, presents the wine Ossian, a varietal Verdejo that is one of Spain's most unique white wines.
This exceptional Spanish white wine is sourced from selected plots with soils of sand, lime and pebble stones located on Nieva and other surrounding villages, in an area known as "terrazas del Valtoya", in the province of Segovia.
Because of the sandy soils, the region remains phylloxera-free and has preserved its amazing biodiversity to this day. The organically certified parcels are planted with ungrafted vines up to 200 years old (!).
Hand-picked and carefully sorted, the grapes were fermented with native yeasts in 228 and 600-litre wooden barrels and vats. After that, this white wine from Rueda was aged for 9 months on lees.
The white wine Ossian 2023 was bottled in the summer of 2024 and cellared for a couple of years before hitting the shelves.
Aerate this Crianza white wine some time before drinking.

Appearance
The white wine Ossian is medium straw with some bright reflections.
Nose
This varietal pre-phylloxera Verdejo is layered and refined. Ripe white fruit, dried flowers, fennel and aniseed, with a hint of tropical fruit and spice and a stony and mineral edge.
Palate
Vibrant, supple and textured, with a citrusy freshness to the deep mineral core and still unfurling complexity. This organic white wine by Ossian Vides y Vinos winery feels very pure, with remarkable transparency and a long, ever-evolving finish.
Our personal opinion
The white wine Ossian 2023 is a splendid white wine from a unique terroir.
