Details
One of the mid-range products of the famed Scala Dei winery, the wine Scala Dei Prior is a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon sourcing from 35 to 65-year-old vineyards planted in clay and slate (llicorella) soils at altitudes from 400 to 600 metres, in the heart of world-famous DOQ Priorat.
Hand-harvested in little boxes and selected on site and in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed, gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. After that, this Spanish red wine was transferred into French oak barrels and French oak vats for 12 months.
Finally, the red wine Scala Dei Prior 2022 was bottled in April 2024 and aged for 12+ months before its commercial release.
It is advisable to decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.
