Product Description

This interesting Spanish red wine is the result of the partnership between the Montsant-based Coca i Fitó winery and Celler Roig Parals, based in L'Empordà.

It is made basically from Grenache and Carignan vines, planted in different sites. Farmed following sustainable practices, the Grenache vines are 30 to 80 years of age, while the Carignan vines are up to 100 years old.

The composition of Tocat de l'Ala is complemented by a small percentage of Syrah, sourced from young vineyards.

Traditionally vinified, this red wine from L'Empordà was briefly aged in French oak barrels for a brief period of 4 months.

All in all, Tocat de l'Ala 2019 succeeds in showing the lighter, more cheerful side of the old wine region of Empordà - the homeland, incidentally, of the great Salvador Dalí.

The red wine Tocat de l'Ala is medium ruby with a garnet rim.


Notes of spices, red berries, plums, blackberries, and Mediterranean herbs, which clearly point to a blend of Grenache and Carignan, with a touch of vanilla, toast and dry thyme. On the background, there are some aromas of black olives and chocolate, typical of Syrah.


The blend shows a great balance. Cocoa, liquorice, clove, wild berries, and some deep mineral undertones. This red wine from Coca i Fitó and Roig Parals has some ripe tannins, a good acidity and fresh, delicately spicy finish.

Our personal opinion

The juicy and drinker-friendly Tocat de l'Ala 2019 is one of the best values produced in L'Empordà. A charming vegan red wine.

A very drinkable wine, it also has that sort of raw authenticity you seldom find outside Empordà.
