Quinta do Noval

Quinta do Noval

A historic producer of Port wine.

Although the name Quinta do Noval first appeared on a legal document in 1715, the modern history of the winery began in 1894, when Port-native wine négociant António José da Silva bought the estate and replanted the vineyards, which had been devastated by the phylloxera plague. In 1931, bodega Quinta do Noval raised to the top level of Port Wine producers after being one of the only three wineries to declare that year's vintage.

Located in the heart of the Douro valley, near the village of Pinhão, in the Duriense region of north-west Portugal, the distillery Quinta do Noval has 192 hectares of vineyards with schist and clay soils at 100 to 500 metres of altitude, mostly planted with the traditional red varieties of the region: Touriga NacionalTouriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and Sousão. The main white varieties Malvasia Fina, GouveioRabigato and Códega.

Bodega Quinta do Noval is one of the oldest and most prestigious producers of Port wine, whose product range comprises Tawny Port, Ruby Port, Vintage Port – including the legendary Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage Port, the scarcest, most sought-after Port wine in the world - and also White Port. The winery also makes a collection of non-fortified wines, which explore the amazing diversity and depth of the Douro terroir.

Since 1993, the Quinta do Noval winery is a branch of the international wine group AXA Millésimes.
