O Luar do Sil

In 2014, the Rodero Villa family, owners of the Pago de los Capellanes winery in Ribera del Duero, started a new project in the DO Valdeorras, bodega O Luar do Sil, with the aim of producing complex and age-worthy white wines from Godello. Located in the village of Seadur, within the province of Ourense, the winery nowadays crafts a range of excellent wines from one of Galicia's most important, and yet still insufficiently known, indigenous white varieties.

The Luar do Sil estate is located Sil river valley. Grown in granite and soils, the vines benefit from the exceptional weather conditions of the area, which allows for the vines to ripen slowly and steadily. The resulting wines are fresh, subtle and deeply mineral.

Each of the 3 wines of bodega O Luar do Sil winery is vinified in a different manner. The wine O Luar do Sil Godello is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The white wine O Luar do Sil Godello Sobre lías is fermented and aged on lees. Finally, the wine O Luar do Sil Vides de Córgomo aged for 8 months in diferent containers. 

Each of the Galician white wines produced by bodega O Luar do Sil captures in a different way the unique qualities of the remarkable indigenous Galician variety Godello.
