Product Description
Details

Produced by Celler Vall Llach, the elegant Aigua de Llum de Vall Llach is a rather unusual wine from Priorat, a land famed for its characterful red wines.

The main variety of this Spanish white wine is Viognier, complemented with a dollop of White Grenache, Macabeo, Picapoll and Escanyavella

Produced from vines scattered across the towns of Porrera and Torroja del Priorat, the grapes were hand -harvested and fully destemmed. Then they were macerated for 36 days, after which this Priorat white wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels for 2 months, with daily stirrings.

Once the process was completed, half of the wine was kept for 4 months in the aforementioned barrels, and the rest was transferred to another set of new French oak barrels, where it was also aged for 4 months.

Finally, Aigua de Llum de Vall Llach 2021 was blended and bottled.

The label reproduces a fragment of the poem "Solstici", by the Catalan poet Miquel Martí i Pol, a personal friend of the proprietors of Celler Vall Llach.

Decant 1 hour before drinking.

Only 800 bottles produced.

Appearance

The white wine Aigua de Llum de Vall Llach is deep gold with some lemon-coloured tinges.

Nose

Exceedingly suggestive and sophisticated, this Viognier complemented with White Grenache, Macabeo, Picapoll and Escanyavella is opulent, leesy and smokey. Tropical fruit is predominant, with nuances of white fruit, herbs de Provence and citrus. The background is an intriguing combination of pastry, dry fruit and minerality.

Palate

This white wine from Celler Vall Llach is remarkably smooth, structured and complex. Juicy, creamy remembrances of vanilla, peach, honey and balsam, with a deep mineral core and an uplifting freshness reminiscent of citrus. Luscious texture and a long finish with a mineral and smokey tang.

Our personal opinion

Exquisitely crafted, rare and confidential, Aigua de Llum de Vall Llach 2021 is a unique white wine from Priorat.

This wine is comparable to some great Condrieus. The mineral side of it is remarkable.

Viognier
Value
Yes, an amazing Viognier it is. Highly aromatic by nature, here the slate soils multiply its qualities making the resulting wine as intoxicating as a Persian bazaar.
