Red Wine Aires de Garbet 2019
Availability: In stock
A varietal Grenache, the red wine Aires de Garbet of the Castillo Perelada winery is sourced from vines planted in 1997 in Finca Garbet, a scenic terraced vineyard directly facing the Mediterranean sea. (Interestingly, the place is just a stone throw away from the legendary El Bulli restaurant.)
Besides the vicinity of the Mediterranean sea, three features make this Spanish red wine from Empordà stand out: the influence of the mighty northern wind called Tramuntana - a natural sanitizing agent - the deeply mineral slate soils and the ever-present sunlight.
The grapes were manually harvested and then fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks with a three week maceration.
Then the red wine Aires de Garbet 2019 was aged for 15 months in 2nd year French oak barrels in order to preserve its varietal character. Finally, it was aged for a further months in the bottle before its release.
Decant this red wine from L'Empordà a minimum of 2 hours before drinking.
Pair this Reserva red wine with hearty meat recipes.
Appearance | The red wine Aires de Garbet is deep ruby with a violet rim. |
---|---|
Nose | This is a remarkably complex varietal Grenache. Notes of ripe berries and aromatic herbs, some toasted hints, notions of wild flowers, Med garrigue and some salty touches. There is a dash of spices, Arabica coffee and bitter cocoa, with some deep mineral undertones. |
Palate | This wine from Castillo de Perelada is fresh and characterful. Wood is still a little prominent, but it will surely integrate within a few years. The fruit here, though, is of the highest quality. On the palate, the wine amplifies the sensations perceived on the nose, and also shows a velvety texture, some yet-to-tame tannins and a long, spellbinding finish with a deep mineral reverberation. |
Our personal opinion | The red wine Aires de Garbet 2019 is a love letter to the Mediterranean. |
