The vermouth Antich Reserva is made following an original recipe from 1850. Made by Casa Antich, a brand of Grupo Vallformosa, this Spanish red vermouth proudly proclames itself as “the vermut of Barcelona.”
The base wine of this red vermouth is made from Macabeo grapes sourced from vineyards located in DO Penedès.
First, the base wine went through an oxidative ageing process in barrels. After that, it was infused with a blend of 37 organic botanicals, such as vanilla, gentian, thyme, wormwood and bitter orange. The colour was obtained by adding organic sugar cane molasses.
Finaly, this organic red vermouth was aged for 12 months in American oak barrels.
This vermouth aged in oak is deep amber with some reddish reflections. The nose carries aromas of fine wood, coco, dates, dried figs, raisins and spices. On the palate, the vermouth Antich Reserva is complex and savoury, with an oxidative Sherry note, a dash of candied citrus and jasmine and hints of aromatic herbs and wormwood, ending with a note of clove, vanilla and cocoa.
