A truly legendary Spanish red wine, the wine El Nido is made in the DO Jumilla by Bodegas El Nido, the joint project started in 2001 by Gil Family Estates and the famed Aussie oenologist Chris Ringland - of Barossa Valley fame.
This blended Crianza red wine is made from 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from a 44- hectare certified organic vineyard with a rocky-limestone topsoil and a sandy subsoil, located at 700+ metres of altitude. The low-yielding Monastrell vines are 70 to 90 years of age; the Cabernet Sauvignon was planted 40 years ago.
Each variety was separately vinified in stainless steel tanks and barrels. After completing the malo in barrels, this organic and vegan red wine from Jumilla was aged for 22-24 months in French and American oak barrels.
Once bottled, the red wine El Nido 2023 was stored for some months before hitting the market.
It is essential to decant this organic red wine at least 1 hour before drinking.
