Made by Bodega Losada Vinos de Finca, the wine La Bienquerida shows why El Bierzo is nowadays probably the most interesting of all Spanish wine regions.
A blend of Mencía and other red varieties, this single vineyard red wine from El Bierzo is sourced from vines planted in 1906 in Paraje Las Chas, a lieux-dit in Valtuille de Abajo.
The harvest was carried out by hand. Once in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed, slightly crushed and macerated, after which this Spanish red wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts.
After that, the red wine La Bienquerida 2022 was aged for 15 months in French oak vats. Finally, the wine was gently clarified before bottling.
We suggest that you decant this Crianza red wine at the very least 30 minutes before drinking.
We encourage you not to judge this Spanish red wine by its off-putting label. This is a truly outstanding effort.

| Palate | Despite being quite impressive already, this wine of Bodega Losada Vinos de Finca is just beginning to unfold its potential. There is a seamless combination of intensity and finesse here, with a real sense of place and plenty of detail and nuance. The unique character of the Bierzo region truly comes to the fore: profoundly mineral, with a ferrous-sanguine note and compelling suggestions of flowers and wild berries. |
