Product Description
Details

A blend of 65% Samsó (aka Carignan), 25% Grenache and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the red wine Maius Barranc de la Bruixa is produced by bodega Maius Viticultors, a family winery located in La Morera de Montsant, DOQ Priorat.

This blended Spanish red wine is solely sourced from certified organic vineyards grown on rocky and slate soils in the namesake estate, Barranc de la Bruixa.

Harvested by hand at their optimal ripening state, the grapes were destemmed, gently pressed, briefly macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks.

After completing the process, the red wine Maius Barranc de la Bruixa 2022 was transferred into 75% French and 25% American oak barrels, where this red wine from Priorat went through malolactic fermentation and was aged for 12 months.

Once bottled, this organic red wine was stored for some years before hitting the market.

We suggest that you decant this Crianza red wine 30 minutes before drinking.

Appearance

The wine Maius Barranc de la Bruixa is deep ruby with some reddish glints.

Nose

This blend of Carignan, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon has a richly nuanced nose. Dim, understated spicy and toasted aromas, with lively red fruit, underbrush, chinese ink and a deep mineral core reminiscent of graphite and coal.

Palate

Again, balance is the main feature of this wine of bodega Maius Viticultors. Nicely rounded tannins, a lively garrigue-ish freshness and savoury fruit, with a mineral note and a long finish with some balsamic and floral remembrances.

Our personal opinion

Pleasant and not lacking in complexity, the red wine Maius Barranc de la Bruixa 2022 is a little-known, excellently priced Priorat red wine.
