Details
A phenomenal Spanish red wine from DO Valle de la Orotava (Tenerife), Suertes del Marqués Los Pasitos is a varietal Baboso Negro (a variety indigenous to the region, also known as Bruñal, Alfrocheiro Prieto and Albarín Negro) produced by the Suertes del Marqués wienery.
It is produced from vines located at 400 metres of altitude, grown in clayey soils, beneath which there is pure volcanic rock. The vineyards have a protective vegetal cover and are organically farmed.
The grapes were picked by hand in the second week of September. Once in the cellar, they were half destemmed and macerated for 3 weeks, after which they were fermented with indigenous yeasts in open vats. After that, Suertes del Marqués Los Pasitos 2020 was transferred into French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 14 months on lees.
We suggest that you decant this Valle de la Orotava red wine some time before drinking, since it may contain some natural sediment.
