Many consider Celler Frisach, the producer of the wine Vernatxa de Frisach, the most interesting wine project of DO Terra Alta.
Besides being certified organic, the company is digging into the ancestral wine traditions of the region in order to produce some pure, unadulterated wines true to the spirit of the land.
A varietal White Grenache, this Spanish white wine is sourced from a single vineyard, called Finca La Quart. Soils are composed of sand, clay and limestone.
After the harvest, the grapes were fermented and macerated with the skins, the stems and the seeds. This old local technique results in what in Catalan is called a brisat white wine, which resembles an orange wine, only lighter.
After that, the wine Vernatxa de Frisach 2023 was racked and transferred into 500-litre French oak barrels, where it was aged for 6 months. This white wine from Terra Alta was not filtered, clarified or stabilized before its bottling.
Aerate this Vernatxa Blanca (the local name of White Grenache) some time before drinking.

| Palate | This is, above all, a remarkably lively wine, like all of Celler Frisach's. Ripe yellow fruit and quince, with hints of aniseed and butter and remembrances of Mediterranean underbrush. Fresh and spontaneous, with a vibrant acidity and a long finish with enticing mineral notes. |
