Antich Doble Planta
Launched to commemorate the 175 anniversary of the company, the vermouth Antich Doble Planta is the first limited edition Spanish vermouth of Casa Antich, the brand that created the original formula of the vermouth of Barcelona in the mid XIXth century.
Developed primarily - but no exclusively - to be used as a cocktail ingredient, this Spanish red vermouth was crafted in a traditional manner, infusing a base wine with a careful selection of botanical ingredients.
However, the dose of plants and botanical ingredients in the mix was doubled and, in some cases, tripled to craft a product that could be appropriately combined with any kind of spirit or liquor (hence the name Doble Planta.) After that, this vermouth from Penedès matured in oak barrels.
Mahogany coloured with some reddish reflections, this small-batch red vermouth is expressive and exuberant on the nose, with aromas of thyme, wormwood, candied orange rind and spice, intertwined with flowers, herbs and toast. The vermouth Antich Doble Planta is powerful and deep, with warm wooden suggestions, citrus and a lively bitter note to balance the sweetness. Finish is long and complex, with an aftertaste of spice, wormwood and balsam.
Only 2,000 bottles produced.
