It belongs to the new series of 5 single-estate wines recently released by Josep Grau. These 5 wines are the result of a 14-year research period during which the winemaker has carried out a meticulous study of the different terroirs of his vineyards.
Coming from a 3-hectare estate composed of limestone soils and located in the Serra d'Almos, in the southern zone of the DO Montsant, Figuerals Garnatxa is crafted from low-yielding, organically-farmed vineyards around 40 years of age.
The grapes were selected thrice before undergoing alcoholic fermentation. After that, Figuerals Garnatxa 2016 was aged in a 2,000-litre Stockinger Austrian oak vat for 14 months.
This red wine from Montsant was not aged or clarified before its bottling.
Gently decant it 30 minutes before drinking. Enjoy over the next 6 years.

Clean and bright, Figuerals Garnatxa has a seductive ruby colour with some violet tinges.
Pure, pristine aromas of violets, aromatic herbs, redcurrants and cranberries, underscored by an enticing mineral and balsamic background. A subtle nose this Grenache from Montsant has.
As is always the case with Josep Grau Viticultor, the palate is defined by its finesse. This red wine from Montsant has a crisp, mouthwatering acidity, intense balsamic notions - resin, menthol -, juicy red fruit, subtle mineral notions, streamlined tannins and a long, uplifting finish.

A true terroir-oriented, like its sibling Figuerals Samsó, Figuerals Garnatxa 2016 proves that Montsant some is home to some of Spain's best Grenache vineyards.
