Details

A top-notch Spanish red wine from Bodegas Félix Callejo, Gran Callejo Gran Reserva is a varietal Tempranillo produced solely from old, low-yielding vines grown in a unique terroir in the village of Sotillo de la Ribera, in the DO Ribera del Duero.

The grapes were picked by hand and fermented for a prolonged period of time using only indigenous yeasts. Once the process was completed, this red wine from Ribera del Duero was transferred into 2nd year French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for a period of 24 months.

Finally, the red wine Gran Callejo Gran Reserva 2012 was bottled and aged for a further 5 years before being launched onto the market.

Decant this Gran reserva red wine a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.

Nose

Complex and ever-changing, this varietal Tempranillo smells of boysenberries, damson and blackcurrants, with hints of Arabica coffee, licorice, underbrush, menthol and wet earth.

Impressive wine. Oaky and creamy, with pungent flavours of wild berries, tobacco, forest herbs and leather. High acidity, velvety tannins and lingering finish.
