The wine O Raio da Vella Espadeiro is an Atlantic Spanish red wine born in the westernmost part of the so-called “Green Spain”, the lush stretch of land that goes from Galicia to the Basque Country.
Made from Espadeiro, a red variety indigenous to the DO Rías Baixas, the grapes are sourced from a 1,5- hectare vineyard planted in sandy and granitic soils near sea level – a fact that imparts a noticeably saline character to this Crianza red wine.
The hand-harvested grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. Then the red wine Rodrigo Méndez O Raio da Vella Espadeiro 2022 matured for 12 months in French oak barrels.
After bottling, this red wine from Rías Baixas was kept for some months in the cellar before hitting the market.
We suggest aerating this Galician red wine some time before drinking.
