Mistela del Montsant Negra
The Mistela del Montsant Negra, produced by Celler el Masroig, is a fortified sweet red wine made from Carignan grapes grown in red-clayey soils.
After a meticulous harvest, the grapes were selected, destemmed, cold-macerated and fermented for about a month. Then the fermentation process was stopped through the addition of wine alcohol, with a resulting final content of 15%. After that, Mistela del Montsant Negra was transferred into a different container and the solid remnants were gently pressed. Finally, the wine was clarified and stabilized before its bottling.
The name Mistela, incidentally, is a Catalan word that means "fortified wine".
