We are happy to introduce Plana d’en Jan Magnànim, a characterful, small-batch Clàssic Penedès sparkling wine produced by Plana d’en Jan, a family-run boutique winery that specializes in artisan microvinifications of exceptional plots scattered across the DO Penedès area.
A blend of 55% Xarel·lo and 45% Macabeo, this Spanish sparkling wine is sourced from two vineyards with a total surface of roughly 1.6 hectares, planted with 40 to 50-year-old vines and located in Mas d’en Benet, the family estate.
Manually harvested in 15 kg boxes, the grapes were carefully selected and fully destemmed. After that, this Clàssic Penedès sparkling wine fermented spontaneously with native yeasts under controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks.
Then Plana d’en Jan Magnànim 2018 was bottled, stacked and aged for 20 months minimum. It was further aged in the cellar after being disgorged.
The producction of this Clàssic Penedès Brut Nature Reserva is very limited. Only 1,698 bottles.

Palate | This sparkler from bodega Plana d’en Jan exudes Mediterranean flair, with a palate-caressing mousse, a steely acidity, some citrusy and garrigue notes and great vivacity. Focused and well-defined, with a long and elegant finish. |
