Product Description
Details

The wine Ponce Blanco is one of the two whites made by Bodegas Ponce, an exciting project led by Juan Antonio Ponce that has single-handedly put the DO Manchuela, in Central Spain, in the global wine map.

Made solely from Albilla – an indigenous white variety not to be confused with the Albillo grape from Ribera del Duero, Gredos and the Canary Islands – this Spanish white wine is sourced from 10 hectares of vineyards 50+ years of age with limestone, granitic and clay-limestone soils.

The grapes were fermented in 600-litre oak barrels and 1,000-litre oak vats. After that, the white wine Ponce Blanco 2024 was aged on lees in those containers for 7 months.

Bottled in March 2024, this white wine from DO Manchuela was aged for 12 months minimum before hitting the market.

18,000 bottles produced.

Appearance

The wine Ponce Blanco is medium straw with some bright and steely reflections.

Nose

Definitely terroir-driven, this varietal Albilla wine carries aromas of grapefruit and lime peel, with a hint of chalk, green apple and bitter herbs, intertwined with a floral and peppery note.

Palate

Stylish and linear, this white wine of Bodegas Ponce winery has an electric acidity, excellent definition and some salty and limestone-y undertones to the citrusy fruit. Complex finish with a note of white pepper, ginger and bitter almonds.

Our personal opinion

The wine Ponce Blanco 2024 punches well above its price range. This is a serious, complex white wine aged on lees.
