Details
The wine Manga del Brujo Blanco is the entry-level white of bodega El Escocés Volante, the project of the Scottish Master of Wine Norrel Robertson in the DO Calatayud. This wine, though, is labelled as Vino de España.
This blended Spanish white wine is made from an equal blend of Macabeo, sourced from 55+ vineyards planted in glacis soils at 920 metres of altitude, and White Grenache, grown in gravel soils a 750 metres above sea level.
The hand-picked grapes went through a full-cluster vinification. First, the two varieties were slowly pressed together adding no sulfites and enzymes. After that, the must was spontaneously fermented for a couple of weeks in Stockinger and François Frère used 500-litre oak barrels. This young white wine was kept for one months on lees before being racked back to the barrels.
The white wine Manga del Brujo Blanco 2024 was bottled in June 2025.
