The wine Tomás Esteban is the top-shelf red of Bodegas Valderiz from DO Ribera del Duero, a family project with a deep committment to the principles of organic and biodynamic viticulture.
This Spanish red wine is sourced from the winery’s best and oldest certified organic vineyards. Composed of clay- limestone soils with some sand, the oldest of them were planted over 90 years ago by the grandfather of the Esteban Cristóbal family near the village of Roa, in the province of Burgos.
This blended red wine from Ribera del Duero is made from 90% Tinta del País and a 10% of other local varieties. The hand-picked grapes were spontaneously fermented in wooden vats, with a very gentle extraction of colour and tannin. After that, they completeed malolactic fermentation in barrels.
After that, the red wine Tomás Esteban 2018 was aged for 30 months in new 225-litre French oak barrels.
Once bottled, this organic red wine was stored for some years in the cellar before being released onto the market.
Decant this Reserva red wine at least 1 hour before drinking.
| Appearance | The red wine Tomás Esteban is deep purple with some reddish reflections. |

| Nose | Regal and dignified, this blend of Tinta del País and other varieties carries deep suggestions of leather, smoke, forest floor and Cuban cigars, underpinning exquisite black cherries, forest berries and balsamic herbs, with exotic spices and a lively mineral streak. |
| Palate | Impressive concentration, with earthy and limestone-y notes, some meatiness, a superb acidity and grippy tannins. Still with many good years ahead of it, this wine of Bodegas Valderiz has a complex, memorable finish. |
| Our personal opinion | The wine Tomás Esteban 2018 is perfect for a special celebration. |
