Availability: In stock
The wine Casa Castillo Las Gravas is a noteworthy Mediterranean red coming from DO Jumilla.
Made by the famed Casa Castillo winery, the main variety of this Spanish red wine is Monastrell (mostly sourced from old vines), with a driblet of Grenache (less than 10%). Both varieties are sourced from the Las Gravas parcel, a certified organic vineyard with rocky soils located in an area with an Atlantic- Mediterranean climate.
Each variety was separately fermented in underground stone vats with indigenous yeasts. This red wine from Jumilla went through the malo in French oak vats.
The red wine Casa Castillo Las Gravas 2022 was then aged for 18 months in the vats. It was bottled in Juny 2024.
This organic red wine should be aerated at least 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Casa Castillo Las Gravas is medium purple with a deep ruby hue on the rim. |

Nose | This blend of Monastrell and Grenache opens a bit tight, and it remains kind of restrained and a bit elusive all along. There is a rocky and chalky edge to the black cherry fruit, with a nip of bitter cocoa and leather, evolving into subdued notes of Mediterranean herbs and violets. |
Palate | Again, this wine of Casa Castillo winery is multilayered and enticingly mineral, with a fresh and elegant mid palate, great transparency and precision and a still unfurling complexity. Long finish with a note of white pepper and garrigue. |
Our personal opinion | The wine Casa Castillo Las Gravas 2022 is rich and nuanced. Serious storage potential. |
