Availability: In stock
The Casa Castillo winery, probably the most prestigious producer in DO Jumilla, presents the wine Casa Castillo Valtosca, Jumilla’s answer to northern Rhône.
Made solely from Syrah, the grapes are sourced from two vineyards with sandy subsoils under a tosca topsoil (a very porous type of limestone rock). The organically certified vines grow under a Continental- Mediterranean climate.
The hand-picked grapes were fermented with native yeasts (one-third full clusters) in stone vats. After that, this Spanish red wine was transferred into 500-litre French oak barrels, in which it went through the malolactic fermentation.
After that, the red wine Casa Castillo Valtosca 2023 was aged for 12 months in the barrels. Bottled in September 2024, this Crianza red wine was stored for 9 months minimum before hitting the market.
We suggest decanting this red wine from Jumilla before drinking.
