Product Description
Details

One of the bottlings of the "Cuvées de Prestige" series, Freixenet Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut is a blended Spanish sparkling wine produced by the Freixenet winery.

This Cava is made from two local grapes, Macabeo and Parellada, and two international ones, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all of them coming from estate vineyards located in the heart of Penedès.

Each of the grape varieties was separately harvested and vinified depending on its ripening state and specific requirements. Interestingly, the Pinot Noir was vinified in white, that is, the grape juice was not kept in contact with the grape skins, thus preventing the coloration of the wine must.

Once all of the grapes had been vinified in stainless steel tanks, the wine was blended and bottled. After completing secondary fermentation, Freixenet Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut was aged for 10 months minimum.

This blended Cava Brut from Penedès is easy- drinking and utterly enjoyable.

Appearance

The Cava Freixenet Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut is pale yellow with steely tinges and greenish glints.

Nose

This blend of Macabeo, Parellada, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir carries aromas of jammy fruit and muffins, with some floral overtones, citrus, bitter herbs, dry fruit, quince and toast.

Palate

This Cava Brut from Freixenet has a tense acidity, good freshness and a creamy, playful mousse. Long finish with remembrances of white fruit and herbs.

Our personal opinion

Less dry than your average Cava, Freixenet Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut has a nice "old-school" quality.
